Frequently Asked Questions..

  • Where are your spices from?

Our spices are bought from a highly respected Australian importer that supplies major supermarket chains. As most are not grown in Australia, they are predominantly from India part sometimes from other parts of the world.

  • How are your spices packed?

All our blends are hand measured before mixing. The ground spices are predominantly machine packed, but the whole spices, nuts and onions are painstakingly manually packed.

  • Tell me about nut allergens

We take great care to fully separate the processing of cashew nuts and almond nuts which are the only 2 allergens that we have in our products. Both allergens are hand packed rather than sharing machinery. However, there is a slight risk of cross contamination. Similarly, our supplier sometimes has such risks. Cinnamon Road packaging is labelled accordingly.

  • Are your spices gluten-free?

Gluten (in the form of wheat starch) is not added to any of our spice blends. Instead, we sometimes use rice flour as a thickener.

However, for some of our received ingredients we cannot guarantee that products don’t contain traces of gluten, due to cross contamination during harvesting, transportation or processing. In such instances Cinnamon Road packaging is labelled accordingly.

  • Are your spices kosher and halal-certified?

Our products are not certified halal or kosher. However, we do not add any artificial ingredients of animal or seafood products to our spice blends, so they should be acceptable. All Cinnamon Road packaging has a detailed ingredient list for your reference.

  • Are your spices vegan certified?

Our products are not vegan certified. Although we have no animal products as bought in ingredients, our suppliers have a risk of milk contamination on some nut and rice flour products that we use. Our packaging is labelled accordingly. Each of our spice kits does contain a vegetable curry recipe suitable for vegetarians.

  • Can my curries be frozen?

Your Cinnamon Road curries can be kept in the fridge for 2-3 days by which point they should be put in the freezer if you wish to keep them for up to 3 months. Some might say that the meat curries taste even better when consumed a day after they’re made or even after freezing. However, while some vegetables also freeze well, results aren’t always quite so good for other vegetables eg broccoli and capsicum.
